Man arrested in Gujarat for carrying liquor worth Rs 100

AHMEDABAD: The city police arrested a man with 180ml liquor worth Rs 100 from Bopal area of Gujarat‘s Ahmedabad district.

The accused, identified as Ranjit Vaghela, was on Wednesday granted bail on a bond of Rs 10,000, police said.

“This was his (Vaghela) second attempt for the bail. Earlier, the magistrate court had rejected his plea and (he) was remanded to police custody,” a senior police official said.

The Gujarat government, after facing criticism for not practicing prohibition laws effectively, has recently amended the laws to make them more stringent.

Owing to the state government’s stern move, law and order enforcement agencies too have increased their vigilance.
